Job Specification – To convert the existing manual, swing gates into a automated sliding gate run on a cantilever system.

An extension piece was added to the rear of the gate to allow it to be mounted to the new cantilever system. Additional lengths of palisade fencing was added to in-keep with the existing design.

Job Location – Wigan, Lancashire.

Operating System– The gate system is operated by remote controls for staff, external keypad for non-regular visitors and a Videx GSM intercom system for all other users and visitors. This system allows visitors to call the main office building and allow the user to grant access to the waiting delivery vehicle or visitor.

A free exit loop was installed to allow vehicles to approach the gate and it automatically open. For added security, a time clock was added to the loop system so it can be deactivated during set hours.

The new automation system has a duty cycle of 99%, meaning the automation is capable of operating almost continually without overheating.

Regulations and Health & Safety – The gate has built in obstacle detection and safety photocells fitted across the opening. All trap, drag and crushing hazards have been tested to make sure the force pressure meets current regulations.
